Category: Snow Depth
The Snow Depth Sensor SHM31 is a high-precision, non-contact ultrasonic sensor developed by Lufft for measuring snow depth. It plays a critical role in applications where snow accumulation needs to be monitored accurately and continuously, such as in meteorology, hydrology, transportation, and renewable energy systems like solar PV plants. The snow depth is given up to 15 meters within seconds, millimeter-accurate and reliable. Various heating functions significantly extend the lifetime of the laser diode and allow high-quality measurement data in all weather conditions. Regular maintenance becomes redundant with the SHM 31. A very robust housing and an elaborate operation principle allows almost no maintenance work throughout the lifetime of the sensor. The SHM31 is a reliable and robust solution for precise, automated snow depth monitoring in harsh environments. It is especially valuable in remote or solar-powered weather stations where maintenance access is limited and continuous data collection is essential.
